The Haunted Castle ETO (id:#62911)

Starter kit scenario?:    Deluxe scenario?:
For the veterans of Gebirgs-Division 1, who had fought in Poland, France, and the Balkans, Operation BARBAROSSA was to be a totally new experience. Under the roaring salvos of divisional artillery, the Jäger of Gebirgsjäger-Regiment 99 crossed the border and headed toward the town of Oleszyce. Along the way, they engaged in several firefights with Soviet units which seemed to be everywhere. Finally, the Jäger, together with some light mountain guns from their artillery unit, reached the outskirts of Oleszyce. To their surprise, everything was quiet and no enemy units were around. At the boundaries of a park, part of a local castle, the German soldiers took a well-deserved rest

2017-10-15(D) Jeff B vs John Fedoriw German winRussians let the German reinforcements approach without resistance and were very tentative crossing the "X" row. Time is of the essence in this one, and that combination more than likely cost them any shot at victory. Germans had a somewhat difficult time taking Building AA6, and probably should've approached it from a couple sides under concealment, but the wall/orchards in the east provided ample cover for them to approach en masse. Russians skulking upstairs proved frustrating while the Germans were amongst the orchards, but this was only temporary. By the time the Germans stormed the castle the Russians had only got the commissar (who was wounded in the process) and one squad in as reinforcements, and they were immediately broken and forevermore out of the game. One good order squad was all that remained to hold the fort and he was dispatched with a DC.
