Overview:

In August 1942 the Red Army attempted to retake Rzhev and eliminate the most dangerous threat to the Russian capital. After almost a month of relentless attacks and bitter fighting, the Red Army had made only very small gains. On 4 September the Russian 153rd Tank Brigade and its lend-lease tanks struck and broke through the 78. Infanterie-Division's defenses in the wooded area south of Karmanovo. Attempting to seal the breach was German infantry supported by long-barrelled Panzer IIIs from the 2. Panzer-Division.

2021-02-02(D) Jonathan Kapleau vs Holland, Donald German win
2021-01-20(D) X von Marwitz vs Gerry Proudfoot Russian winAn earlier version of this is FrF56.

There are some differences between the BoF16 and FrF56 versions of the scenario. As the original FrF56 version, which has seen quite a number of plays, seemed to be quite clearly favoring the Russians according to ROAR, it was tweaked somewhat to strengthen the Germans:

They get an additional 8-0 Leader.
They get an additional Pz IIIG.
While in the original version, only the Pz IIIJs get APCR, in the BoF version, additionally the Pz IIIH and the four Pz IIIGs get APCR 5.
While in the original version, US vehicle counters are used for the Russian tanks, it is 'Russian' colored counters for the tanks in the BoF version. This would normally cause the vehicles having different types of Special Ammunition available, however the Russian Special Ammo is deleted by SSRs in each version. There is a difference, though, in the MG armament with the US tanks having fixed mount Bow MGs and the 'Russian' tanks have normal Bow MGs. In case of the M3, the FP of the US tank BMG is 4FP, in the 'Russian' version, it is only 2FP.

2021-01-18(D) Andy Bagley vs Jim Bishop Russian winWe both agreed that against a competent Russian defence the Germans have a tough task here. And a competent Russian defence consists of delaying the German infantry advance, then falling back quickly to the VC woods area, while the Russian tanks remain around those same woods in close support. The Germans tried to surround the woods with their tanks, but needed to win the tank battle in order to do this, and the dice went against them. In the end they simply didn't have enough units, particularly infantry, close enough to take the woods on their last turn.
2020-12-26(D) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Russian winRussian defense got a lot of early successes against the German tanks. One was recalled due to the Russian Sniper and the other three were taken down by lucky hits even in hull down locations. Russian mortar had a devastating rate of fire tear which took out the German 9-1 stack. With that, the German assault was too weak to make a push against the heavily defended victory location and with all 6 Russian tanks still in action.
