On the road to Keren, the Allies were blocked by a fortified position at the end of a rocky valley near Cub Cub village and its fort held by a company of 112th Colonial Battalion. A plan was established to attack the position from three directions. On the 20th, the flanking move started, and while approaching the Italian positions some disorganization in the march order arose with French troops scattered in the rocky hills.

Italians defended middle and French right. French attacked mostly on their right. Some HS went left for easy hexes. French took too many casualties progressing on the right. HS on the left couldn't keep their hexes.

This was an interesting scenario. My opponent guarded the central massif and that on the left with a token force on the right. I elected to put most of my forces in the center right between the central massif and right with understanding that there were only 7 hill hexes on the left and only five turns to get up the mountain. It was a near run game where I was aided by my 81mortars going on a rate tear and breaking his forces on the central massif and luck that troops running in the open did not result in KIAs. Good scenario.

Our playing of this scenario was filled with dramatic highs and lows. By the end of turn 1 Tom was half-way to the CVP cap. By the end of turn 3, I had had less than 1 GO squad on each hill mass. Tom's mtr's swept the crests clean and forced me back into reverse slope positions and he made the final rush and failed. What made the scenario excellent was the edge of your seat tension that started from the first turn and last until the last. Highly recommend.

Poor David. (Him, not me). His guys ran into a few good shots and when they all broke, I was able to eliminate by Failure to Rout for a CVP cap win.

Fun scenario, my 81mm MTR provided lots of smoke and support so I could get in close, went to the last turn and could have gone either way :)
