The Germans had turned south to conquer the rest of France. There was still much hard fighting going on across the front. From June 4th to June 18th the German casualty rate shot up from 2,000 a day to 5,000 a day. Some French units put up extreme resistance out of all proportion to the strategic situation. Battalion 109 RI (known for it's leftist political attitudes) made a stand against the fascist invaders at the Loire River between Jargeaud and Chatuenuef.

My second playing of the scenario, but this time as the defender...this is a good fun scenario with plenty of replay value.

Germans won in the last of three different CC Locations, Controlling 6 of the 8 buildings. The two tanks destroyed by each side were both via MG To Kills.Fun early-war infantry scenario with minor tin can support on both sides. Recommended.

Intensive Fire 2014. Fun game, I went all out for the Exit VC, but regretted popping my head up on the level 1 hills as Marty had them well covered with the 75mm and mortars, causing some early casualties which set me back. I pushed on but Marty had it well covered and I couldn't manage the exit. Fun tho and worth a play!

Pat was going for the exit victory down his left flank right from the get go.
My AMR 35(L) almost won the game single handed for me. It traveled halfway across the board and then took out the SiG. It then moved right in the thick of the German infantry and conducted an Overrun. It survived at least 10 MG attempt TK (2 of them were snakes on the TH - but MG's don't get CH). On one turn it got a hot streak of 5 ROF against adjacent infantry targets (for 12 even IFT results). WOW
This is the 2nd playing for me and I think the French have a decided edge (We did play with the ASL Open suggested balance for the Germans)

I have to reevaluate my comment that this seems to be more fun with the Germans. It is fun as the French as well. My opponent elected to try crossing the O7 hill and was duly bashed since it was covered by the Gun, a MTR the MMG and the tank (use of a 5/8" dummy for confusion paid off). Some sneaky lines of sight took their toll on the western side of board 18. This first punch cost the German much time. When he tried to push through the gainfield between the hills in force, the French had redeployed (including the tank) to cover the area with much residual FP many attackers broke again without much gain. As my French had not lost anything and the German not been able to conquer any building while German losses were substantial and much of his OOB not in good order, he conceded the game early.

I think this scenario is more fun to play for the German. In our game I was attacking, opting not to go over the hills but instead to remain at ground level. A 5/8" dummy stack kept me guessing about where his tank was and did delay me a little. I think I have never played a game where the dice were so uneven throughout the entire scenario. I lost four units to fate, three leaders were wounded (one lethal), one leader killed by Sniper. The MA of the Pz I malfed. Only one (or max. two) squad equivalents were lost due to breaking. All the rest died by K/#, KIA, Melee or were caught as Prisoners. Of the 15 German squads, only 5 remained on the board of which only one HS was unpinned. Though I was ready to concede on turn 4, I am glad that I carried on. In fact, I had a chance to win depending on the last CCPh, with the odds being against me, though. Looking at the truly exceptionally foul dice and a strong opponent, that was quite surprising, so I was quite content in the end despite fighting through seemingly hopeless situations time and again. The old ASL wisdom NEVER to give up was proved right another time.

Not a fair contest - the dice were all on my side. Fun scenario, though.
