German (SS)Russian
Overview:
The German advance towards Prokhorovka continued. SS Panzergrenadier Division 1 led the 2nd SS Corps advance, smashing its way through enemy positions. However, the attacks of the supporting 2nd and 3rd SS Panzergrenadier Divisions fell behind, and the 1st SS flanks were exposed. The 2nd SS Panzergrenadier Division regrouped and continued its attack eastward. A combined force of the 183rd Rifle Division and 2nd Tank Corps comprised most of the defenses directly to the eats of the 2nd SS. The Russians had left a rearguard in the village of Ivanovskii-Vyselok while occupying stronger positions further east with the bulk of their forces. The German grenadiers were forced to clear the village house by house through the rubble.Attacker: German (SS) (Battalion II, SS Panzergrenadier Regiment 3, SS Panzergrenadier Division 2)
Defender: Russian (285th Rifle Regiment, 183rd Rifle Division)

2025-03-24 | (A) O Ramaille | vs | Macari Samuel | German (SS) win | After a fine advance that allowed them to quickly recapture the first group of buildings, the Germans came up against a strong defense from the Russians, who managed to retreat in good order. Thanks to their heavy firepower, the Germans managed to slowly advance through the Southern buildings. But, to the North, the dug-in T-34 was keeping watch, and the Russian sniper was actively shooting. For the final assault, the Germans rushed forwards. The defensive fire eliminated a few squads, but the Germans managed to enter CC on the last two target building hexes. The close combat was deadly to the Russian defenders in both cases. A very tense game that could have gone either way. The scenario is pleasant and fairly balanced.

2024-02-04 | (D) Jim Bishop | vs | Neil Brunger | Russian win | I defended strong up front. I was able to hold the hedge for three turns shuffling concealed units in and out of the front line. MG on the flanks kept everything in front of my forces and turned it into a dice rolling competition. This works well for me as I don't have to move and I have a good front like backed by a solid second line. Germans never really got close.
2024-02-01 | (D) Mark Thompson | vs | Gary Fortenberry (SS) | German (SS) win | The SS went right down the middle and simply outmuscled the Russians to reach the crossroads, only slightly hampered by a resolute Russian hero who, if memory serves, took at least 4 FPF shots (some to decent effect). The SS had a hero as well (and maybe two), which prompted us to quote the Tina Turner lyric “We don’t need another hero…” Rolling boxcars on what I thought would be a decent 1 -2 firelane across the SS's initial movement certainly didn't help the Russian cause (a good lesson to leader up FLs). The Russians nearly seized victory from the jaws of defeat by landing a 76L round in a large SS stack marshaling west of the crossroads - breaking all but the hero - but the Russians simply could not Rally any broken units. They conceded during SS Turn 5 Prep Fire after the SS broke the Russian 9-1 and MMG team defending the north east portion of the village. Rethinking the defense set-up, I believe that the northeast portion of the village is the key, and the Russians should probably concentrate the bulk of their forces there, with modest pickets out front. I did like my T-34 in the R4 rubble….
