Balance:
American (USMC)Japanese
Overview:
In order to reach and secure the “tail” of Betio, the remaining Japanese between the airfield and the south shore had to be cleared. The 1/2 and 2/2 Marines were dug-in along a small enclave adjacent to the beach, but were juts holding on, severely depleted after two and a half days of constant fighting. The attack plan had the 1/6 Marines driving eastward along the shore and linking up with the 1/2 and 2/2 Marines, then 3/6 Marines would pass through their combined positions and advance onto the “tail”. There was one major flaw with this plan; the Japanese had no intentions of allowing the Marines to complete their assigned mission.Attacker: American (USMC) (Reinforced elements of 2nd Marine Division)
Defender: Japanese (Elements of 3rd Special Base Force)

2024-01-07 | (A) walter mcwilliams | vs | Tom Kearney | Japanese win | Tom and I continued our B&J play through and no surprise here the Japanese won. Really quite hard on the USMC.
2020-05-23 | (D) Jeff B | vs | Tom Mueller | Japanese win | 6.5 hrs | Tough choice for the Japanese on how much to allocate to their Alamo defense vs. offering some resistance to the US reinforcements. My forward AT gun and mortars proved their worth. knocking out one tank, immobilizing another, and shocking a third. I did lose one of preciously few leaders to a sniper though. My gun didn't last long however, getting flamed by one of the numerously generated heroes. Meanwhile I lost my own FT, and his shocked tank recovered. We were pretty evenly trading casualties, but that type of trade would only end up in the US favor. We had a tough battle going on along the eastern setup perimeter, but the battle of attrition was starting to wear on me, and his tanks were starting to make their way east. I was almost ready to throw in the towel,, but thankfully I didn't, as Turn 4 saw me bust to a man his monster stack in the east. This proved to be a game-breaking move, as the rest of his infantry were 2-3 Turns away from my Alamo. With the prospect of crossing mines and deadly FLs, the Americans called it a day.

2017-06-22 | (D) nathan wegener | vs | Allen King | Japanese win | Complicated rules - scenario static defence not impressed. FerocityFest Tex2017
2017-06-22 | (D) Paul Works | vs | David Perham | Japanese win | 2017 Texas ASL Tournament; Ferocity Fest. My Japanese held firm vs. the USMC assault. DC heroes and mid-range AT gun shots took out his armor. David was kind enough to continue to play to help on the Ferocity Fest points even though it looked bleak. |
