Overview:
The long file of Kampfgruppe Peiper vehicles, many heavily camouflaged with pine boughs, filled the road north from Trois Ponts, through La Gleize, and on towards Cheneux where advance elements had discovered an intact, undefended bridge over the Ambleve River. The mist and cloud cover had temporarily thinned out, however, and a U.S F-6 aircraft spotted the column. Shortly after the lead German vehicles had crossed the bridge, a swarm of P-47 Thunderbolts appeared overhead. As the SS-panzergrenadiers unloaded and dispersed into the surrounding area, two Whirlwind AA tanks began frenzied defensive fire.Attacker: American (IX Tactical Air Command)

2023-07-05 | (D) Ron Garcia | vs | Darryl M. | American win | What really needs to be said about this scenario? The American FB's came roaring in as soon as I expended my first MP and annihilated three HT's and the Panther on the first turn. With all the crews and passengers failing their CS rolls, I was down 24 CVP by the end of turn 1. I totally expected this so I didn't put much effort into trying to come up with a decent set up - not that the scenario gives the Germans much choice on how to to set up. Heck, it took longer for me to brush up on the aircraft rules than actually playing the scenario! I only played it as it fell into our Battle of the Bulge mini campaign my friend and I are playing and because it is an official AH/MMP scenario. What's interesting to me is how five German players won this scenario on ROAR! The best thing I can say about this scenario is that it took about 20 minutes to play! This scenario is best played solo to teach yourself how to use air support. | ||
2017-01-30 | (A) Martí Cabré | vs | Nicolas Sabido | German (SS) win | Very short and fun scenario featuring 3 American FB strafing a German SS column during the Bulge. I played with the planes but instead of strafing the column I pursued the vehicles with a plane, that was an error. I also lost by recall one of the three planes on Turn 1, so it did not shoot a single bullet, and finally a Whirlwind turned my third plane into a ball of fire before it could drop a bomb, so I lost with a score of 9-2, not enough for the margin of 15 needed to win. Fun scenario, though. |
