As the 23rd Panzer Regiment failed to take Pabiance, the Leibstandarte Adolph Hitler entered into the firestorm and made great gains. Other units, however, couldn’t keep up with the Leibstandarte, with the result being a salient. The Waffen SS attack began to run out of steam due to the number of casualties and the desperate situation at hand. The Polish Army had no such shortage of men as units withdrawing from the west were ordered immediately into the battle. . .

A split defense by the Germans meant some units were easy to pick off right from the get-go. German IFT rolls were generally bad, coupled with some great Morale Checks on my part, which greatly helped me avoid the problems of such a low ELR.
Since the stronger defenders were in the Marketplace building, I simply chose to ignore it while grabbing any and all available buildings. My aggressive advance meant I could prevent the reinforcing Germans from establishing themselves in any buildings. A patient attack from Rob broke into the left-most building, but enough time had passed that, by the end of the game, there would be no chance of recovering the necessary number of buildings for the victory.

Solid scenario! CR spent a few turns trying to prep fire some of my squads out, with no effect. He eventually pushed in, but by that point I had some troops swarming onto the board. At the key turn when CR tried one final push, I got a hot streak and killed or ELRed a significant number of his squads. At that point, things looked pretty locked up. CR made a game of it still by trying to hold me off, but by the end I had most of the board and his troops coming on in T7 couldn't do enough. Good game, and a very fun scenario!

Did I miss something here? I know my tactics suck but I would definitely weight this in favour of the Germans. With 3 VP per building hex (including cellar location), Germans only need 29 of a possible 94 VP. They managed 37 in this game with another 9 being denied them by Poles routing upstairs on the last turn before the Germans advanced in.

Polish win
The Germans couldn't hit the broad side of a barn early and, at the same time, passed everything thrown at them. Persistence finally paid off for the Poles, breaking the last bastion of strength holding out in the marketplace. Just in time too, for the German reinforcement horde was making it's way onboard. A desperate clash ensued in the middle of the board leaving many dead bodies and, despite no quarter on both sides, lots of eliminated units for failure to rout. In the end, the Poles kept just enough of a toehold in one of the big buildings to hold out for the victory. I would go so far as to call this scenario a classic.
