Starter kit scenario?:    Deluxe scenario?:
The Finns, seeking restitution for the Winter War of 1939, had erupted across the borders and breached the Soviet Karelian front even as the crisis to the south of Leningrad came. In a desperate attempt to salvage something and form a new defense line along the Sestra River, orders went out to break off and retreat southward. One such unit was the 131st Border Battalion, which was to serve as a rearguard. At 1530, orders arrived releasing them to save themselves. . .if they could. Behind them a bakery was on fire, the town hall was ablaze, and ammunition was dwindling. Nevertheless, their young officers organized a fighting withdrawal towards the hills in an attempt to reach newly established lines.

2019-10-24(D) Jeff B vs Magnus Rimvall Russian winFinns barely crossed the street on Turn 1, and that remained the pace for the rest of the game - a bit too slow. They just moved past the southern end of the Russian setup area by the end of Turn 3 and that was about a Turn behind where they needed to be. By the end of Turn 5 there was no possible way they could exit any units off the board, while the Russians were guaranteed at least 2 squads. Always a classic.
2019-07-14(D) Jonathan Kapleau vs Nolt, Jim Russian win
2019-03-23(D) John Malaska vs Zeb Tingley Russian winEarly on, my sniper took out the Finn's, so I had free rein with cheap DF shots. Managed to keep my withdrawal orderly, although lost several MMCs to CC/capture. Finns were pressed for time by T4, and just about KIA'd/CR'd/broke to every DF attack. Finns conceded at start of T5, with little hope of exiting the map edge. Two oddities ... my first real playing of ASL1. Second, Finn HS broke on T1, and never rallied (Russian vodka to blame.)
2019-03-15(A) David Garvin vs David Alexander Finnish win
