Overview:
The Japanese South Seas Force had landed on the north coast of Papua several days earlier and had advanced rapidly inland., towards the village of Kokoda, and its grass airfield. The Australians skirmished with the Japanese and found themselves back at Deniki, having abandoned Kokoda ahead of the Japanese advance. The invaders occupied Kokoda and then branched out, heading along several jungle tracks to the south, seeking the Australian troops. This left Kokoda undefended, and the Australians promptly reoccupied it, forcing the enemy to take it back by force.Attacker: Japanese (South Seas Force)
