2024-10-21 | (D) Ben Jones | vs | BrunoV | Japanese win | Played again against a more experienced opponent. He completely ignored the 2 VP hex and pushed around the flank but too slowly. He chose the large American group, I chose the small Japanese group. I think the Americans need to take the 2 VP hex. The map is too slow to ignore it. Great fun. | ||
2024-08-20 | (D) Ben Jones | vs | Patrice! | Japanese win | Spoiler Alert! Very Pretty Maps. Outstanding. I played against an inexperienced player, and it was over by turn 4 I think, with the Japanese in extremely strong blocking positions. This scenario is abnormal for two reasons. Normally on these maps one has to advance a very short distance as the streams, swamps and dense jungle really restrict movement. In this scenario some of the potential American VC hexes would require near constant movement for the Americans. This is possible as the Americans have 4 leaders and potentially 7 turns. The Japanese will lose in this footrace as they are tied to defending K6 (which counts as 2 LVP) and have only 3 leaders. What can lose the scenario for the Americans is poor choices in objective and more importantly in which RG they choose and how early they reveal this to the Japanese player. For example, if as the Japanese I see a FT on turn one I know you have chosen Option 1, this gives me a strategic intelligence advantage. So as the Americans keep your option secret as long as you can. Good fun, good defensive choices for the Japanese, intricate LOS rewards careful positioning of SW. Well done LC. |
