Overview:
Operation SILBERFUCHS, launched earlier in the summer, was beginning to bog down thanks to the poor supply, the unforgiving terrain, and the tenacious Soviet defense. General Dietl had demanded reinforcements, and High Command finally provided much needed troops in the form of two mountain divisions, one of which was an SS division. Ferocious counterattack by the Soviets lessened, indicating that the Soviets were moving over the the defensive. If the Germans were to reach Murmansk, it would be now or never.Attacker: Russian (52nd Rifle Division)
Defender: German/German (SS) (SS-Gebirgs-Division 6 "Nord" with Gebirgs-Division 2)

2025-01-05 | (D) S. Slunt | vs | Dan Lepore | German/German (SS) win | To me the game appeared that it was going to be very difficult for the Germans to win. The Germans spread out and forced the Russians to split up their overwhelming Firepower. The Russian advanced slowly in Left Centre and Right groups. By the end of the Russian turn for the the Right Germans were gone. But on the Left side the Russian group was having trouble with the SS. The last good order Russian on the Left side around the level 3 hill was broken. When the German reinforcements were able to distract the Russians so that a SS unit was able to skirt back around the Stone building on the fourth level, the Russians realized that there was no way to get to that squad and deal with the remaining 2 SS squads on the board.

2024-06-28 | (A) Kermit Mullins | vs | Dan Best | German/German (SS) win | Tough fight with too many freakin boxcars and Russian 11's, which honestly stripped the fun from the scenario. One SS 4-6-8 reached the opposite board edge with the relief force on Turn 5 for an SS win. Victory conditions should require an SS squad to remain on a hill hex. Might be too hard for Russians to win this thing.
