Overview:
The Civil War in Spain was not yet a year old and it had already devolved into a conflagration of unprecedented violence, even by the standards of a civil war. As the clash of two fundamentally opposing ideologies, the conflict in Spain attracted volunteers from countries all over the world, eager to sacrifice themselves in the name of a cause they considered to be greater than themselves. One such group of Men was Mussolini's Volunteer Corps, which Italian commander General Mario Roatta, deployed as part of Franco's effort to encircle Madrid. On March 8th, they attacked the understrength 50th Brigade, 12th Division of the of the People's Republician Army near Guadalajara. The Flamethrower Tankette did as much as possible to harm the defenders, but constantly rolling above 7 meant that there simply wasn't a way to reliably break the defender, while Italian troops couldn't prevent the troops from breaking and losing ground. Hand-to-Hand combat claimed several squads on both sides, but ultimately there simply wasn't enough time to take the required objectives. Dice played a major part in this outcome. | ||
