Overview:
The Civil War in Spain was not yet a year old and it had already devolved into a conflagration of unprecedented violence, even by the standards of a civil war. As the clash of two fundamentally opposing ideologies, the conflict in Spain attracted volunteers from countries all over the world, eager to sacrifice themselves in the name of a cause they considered to be greater than themselves. One such group of Men was Mussolini's Volunteer Corps, which Italian commander General Mario Roatta, deployed as part of Franco's effort to encircle Madrid. On March 8th, they attacked the understrength 50th Brigade, 12th Division of the of the People's Republician Army near Guadalajara.
