Overview:
The Airborne portion of the Red Devils' attack on Sicily had been a disaster. Many gliders, due to a combination of wind and heavy anti-aircraft fire, became disorientated and landed miles from their target or, worse yet, in the ocean. Fortunately, that was not always the case. Here and there, some gliders of the British 1st Airborne landed intact, close to their intended destinations. One such place was the Ponte Grande, where the Red Devils prepared to give the Italian defenders hell.Attacker: British (1st Airlanding Brigade, 1st Airborne Division)
