Overview:
The Soviet attack had reached the edge of Debrecen and was closing in on the city itself. In typical fashion, the Cavalry-Mechanized Group would hit a weak point – usually the Hungarian lines – and try to force a rout. With the outskirts of Hungary's second city already in Soviet hands, the 16th Assault Gun Battalion helped set up defensive positions around the brickworks in the northwestern end of town to await the Soviet attack.Attacker: Russian (8th Guards Cavalry Division and 154th Tank Brigade)
Defender: Hungarian / German (16th Assault Gun Battalion and Panzer-Regiment 23, Panzer-Division 23)

2021-08-08 | (D) Vic Lauterbach | vs | Ben Lootens | Hungarian / German win | Challenging fight on an unfamiliar (to me) board. Ben's attack ground up the Hungarians efficiently but took long enough that my reinforcements were able to blunt his final push. We ended a turn early when the second Sherman III(a) failed to repair its MA. The Panthers and my stacks in F2 and I7 made the Russians' chances of taking the final building block in one more turn effectively nil. Russian player needs some luck (or bad Axis luck) to keep his attack on schedule. Well played overall.
2021-01-20 | (A) wayne baumber | vs | Hungarian / German win | This game ebbed and flowed and went down to the wire but its a toughie for the Red Army
2020-11-15 | (D) Dave Mareske | vs | Dan Best | Hungarian / German win | I was a little skeptical of this one and even offered Dan the balance, which he refused. Dan's Russians dismantled my Hungarians fairly quickly with only two squads to slow down the Russians in turn three. Both Hungarian tanks met a bitter end, but both Shermans were lost in the initial attack. Dan had some great rolls throughout the game; I had some great CC rolls that kept me in the game. After my Germans entered I was able to stop the Russian advance keeping them to only 4 blocks, which they were never able to get the fifth block. It was close at the end, but the Germans were able to hold on, winning some critical CCs to seal the win. It was a great game.
