Overview:
After Japan's surrender. British General Gracey arrived in Saigon with orders to restore French rule and repatriate the Japanese. Unfortunately, anarchy and chaos reigned. The Japanese had nominally allowed the Vichy French to rule until interning them in early 1945. Now various Vietnamese national groups, particularly the Viet Minh, oontrolled the streets. General Gracey's small British force took control, and then armed the interned French. Brutal fighting and reprisals ensued. In one incident, a few Viet Minh with Japanese deserters and two machine guns took over a large bungalow.Attacker: British / French (Elements 20th Indian Division & French 5th Colonial Infantry Regiment)
Defender: Japanese / Viet Minh (Deserters from Japanese 38th Army & Viet Minh)

2022-01-29 | (A) Jeff B | vs | Steve Etzelmueller | Japanese / Viet Minh win | Gun created some smoke to make things as safe as possible for my French to charge the big building. Perhaps I would've risked CC against the lone hero, but my only unit not pinning was a full squad and I just couldn't risk it. Really I had just wanted to strip as much of his concealment as possible. As any smart defender would do, he didn't bite. So I would have to sacrifice a precious British HS the next turn to search to accomplish this. Not that it did me much good anyway as I still had no intentions of going into CC against a stealthy Japanese unit backed by a -1 leader and a hero. Not being able to grow concealment for the French is what really breaks this scenario. Throw in two HIP Japanese units and it becomes almost impossible. As it was I had my chances at the end, but when I rolled three "9s" at 3:1 odds it just was not in the cards.
2021-02-08 | (A) Maurizio Mai | vs | Fabio Mazzucchelli | Japanese / Viet Minh win | The British were not able to use the ART correctly, smoked the enemy building but in CC the green French were wiped out at first CC. Despite some good shot, the Japanese defended without too much difficulty.
