Overview:
After the vital road through the center of Sicily was assigned to Montgomery's forces, Patton was free to do an end run around the western side of the island, racing along the coast. Occasional resistance was met, but quickly overpowered by superior American firepower. I gave my Italians in the middle a decent chance of holding out due to the nice woods clump, but when my HMG broke on Turn 2 and he positioned his mortars to make the fringes of the woods less habitable that feeling quickly subsided. I should have went on the offensive at this point with the rather large force I had guarding the east, but I didn't make that move until too late in the game. The Americans ended up bullying my Italians into submission. Another enjoyable ESG scenario. | |

| 2016-11-24 | (D) Paolo Cariolato | vs | Federico Corso | Italian win | A welcomed all infantry scenario after tens of tank battles on the eastern front. IMHO the american must aim for the village in the center of the map and the other one near the hill, concentrating on those two makes the victory conditions attainable, otherwise it will become too spread out to make his superior firepower be felt. Nice scenario and playing the italians is always a nightmare. |
