Overview:
The 9th Infantry Division’s mission as part of Operation Cobra was to attack south towards Marigny along the highway. They were to then attack to the west in order to protect that route and along the 1st “Motorized” Infantry Division to break through to the German rear. The 4th Regiment’s attack axis would hit the western portion of the Panzer Lehr Division defenses and eastern side of the 13th Parachute Regiment.Attacker: American (Reinforced elements of 9th Infantry Division)

2024-08-20 | (D) Rob MacGinley | vs | Ian Willey | American win | Really just an Americans pushing very hard and killing all in their path small things like teh VC being every building needed and teh randomness of the German defence does make it unique

2012-11-01 | (A) Fred Ingram | vs | Jeff Coleman | American win | Depending upon the results of the bombardment, this could be very bad for the Germans. As it was, 2 Panthers immobilized (the other two eventually got recalled) and 3 guns malfunctioned. Jeff got 1 gun back, but lost both 88's completely. They were originally set up in the backfield, so once the Americans broke through, the tanks had free reign. It took 5 turns to make headway into the main woods complex. Once through there in force, the Germans were in tough shape as they had significantly less infantry (which was highly variable in quality - due to the bombardment). The Americans never got a shot off with the infantry flamethrower or the Sherman with the flamethrower. Never used the Cullin hedgerow devices either, risked bog all the time with nary an adverse result. All 4 bazooka teams were massacred. The radio had 2 red cards once it was in a position to do any good. The HMG's were finally assembled near the backfield just prior to a concession. This is not a cakewalk for the Americans. With a Panther guarding each of the 4 major avenues to the back victory buildings, a coordinated attack is mandatory.
