Overview:

A little more than a week after the invasion of Poland, German units of the 10th Army were at the gates of Warsaw. Despite some panic and confusion, the citizens were urged to help with anti-tank ditches and defenses. The 4th Panzer Division was tasked with penetrating the city in the Ochota district although not well-suited to the task. Awaiting these forward elements were guns and soldiers of the Polish 29th Infantry Division. They had moved into the district the previous evening and the guns were aimed over open sights to cover the area's avenues with deadly crossfire. The war's first contest over Warsaw was about to begin.
Attacker: German (Panzer Regiments 35 & 36, 4th Panzer Division and 217th Infantarie Division)

2020-09-19(D) Dan Best vs Dave Mareske Polish winGermans were aggressive with the tanks and lost 9 with crews. Loss of three squads put them over the CVP cap.

2020-01-13(A) Dwayne Duval vs Kevin Duval Polish win
2019-12-10(D) David Ramsey vs Martin Barker Polish winGood early war tanks vs lots of AT guns and fanatic Polish troops. Wire and fortified locations in the centre of the battle slowed the Germans down who missed out on the VC by 3 hexes at the end. As featured on Illuminating Rounds episode 5.
2019-04-30(A) Jeff B vs Ken Dunn Polish winMy plan was to attack hard in the center and east and swing up. I placed FL-capable units with AFV protection on all the roads that had long LOS to prevent the defense from reinforcing any weak spots. The only weak spots to be had were my own however. Not to take anything away from Ken whatsoever (as he is certainly a very good player), but this was probably the worst dicing I have ever seen. Not only were his rolls hot (probably a pip lower than average), but mine were ice cold (a pip higher I am guessing). This, combined with his superbly placed guns and multiple fortified location, made my job extremely difficult. I lost four vehicles on Turn 2 alone, but losing my 9-2 and two squads on Turn 3 probably sealed the deal. I pressed on but eventually hit the CVP cap at the end of Turn 5. Despite all this it was still a fun game against a great opponent. I would gladly play this one again as either side.
