Overview:
A little more than a week after the invasion of Poland, German units of the 10th Army were at the gates of Warsaw. Despite some panic and confusion, the citizens were urged to help with anti-tank ditches and defenses. The 4th Panzer Division was tasked with penetrating the city in the Ochota district although not well-suited to the task. Awaiting these forward elements were guns and soldiers of the Polish 29th Infantry Division. They had moved into the district the previous evening and the guns were aimed over open sights to cover the area's avenues with deadly crossfire. The war's first contest over Warsaw was about to begin.Attacker: German (Panzer Regiments 35 & 36, 4th Panzer Division and 217th Infantarie Division)
Defender: Polish (29th Light Artillery Regiment and 29th Infantry Regiment)

2024-08-05 | (D) Jobbo Fett | vs | Rob W. | Polish win | Rob simply could not catch a break in the first two turns. One roadblock completely skewed his plans for his armoured vehicles, and by the time they advanced up towards my first set of units on the bottom board (the only true units on that board) the two ATRs set off to work and promptly started turning them into smouldering wrecks. It also helped that my HMG was positioned to shoot right down the main road bisecting the map, stalling out any German infsntry advance. Tenacity and persistence finally managed to score some building locations for Rob, but by turn 5 they'd simply lost too much and needed to control so much more of the board than they had that the Germans threw in the towel. Definitely fun for either side, provided the dice dont abandon you. A nice selection of vehicles and SW to make your way through some tough defenses. The Polish side has a nice exercise in defensive setup and payoff at play here!
2023-01-08 | (A) Shane Pask | vs | German win | Poles tried to defend board 20 and take out at least one tank with each gun as it was revealed. Started well with even the ATRs scoring kills and the HMG nest holding up most of the infantry. However, the Germans bought lots of smoke grenades and FT fuel with them. Once they crossed the VC road there was very little of the Polish force left to stop them. Poles conceded turn 5 with 26 CVP and 27 buildings under German control (needed 28). Poles only had 2 GO squads, 4 guns, the MMG and two 7-0 leaders left (one leader was broken with 2 extra broken squads). Germans still had all of their leaders and 15 GO squads rampaging out of site of all the guns.
2021-11-08 | (D) Jason Nichols | vs | Eric Topp | Polish win | Polish set up deep within their zone in fortified locations making it difficult for the German to dent their defence. Germans lost two AC's on turn 1 and found it difficult to penetrate the Polish positions. Germans capitulated on Turn 3.
