Overview:
The freshly arrived “Guripas” of the Spanish “Blaue Division”, along with their comrade in arms from the 126th Infantry Division, had to deceive the Russian units in their sector by launching a series of limited attacks. From the CO of the Division, General Munoz Grandes, the order came to cross the Volchov River on a narrow area and infiltrate the Russian lines. 1st Lt. Galiana, from IR 269 / II Battalion, was chosen to lead the assault party, but just after the arrival of the first squads, the Spaniards discovered the Russians were already crossing the river.. .Attacker: Russian (Elements of 848th Infantry Regiment, 267th Rifle Division)
