Overview:
As the drive on Warsaw continued, the 4th Panzer Division, with SS Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler Regiment attached, was given new orders to attack through the Warsaw suburbs of the Bzura sector, at the bend of the Vistula River, to seal off the western approaches to the capital, which the desperate Polish High Command was trying to keep open for reinforcements fighting their way east. Occasionally the Polish defense crystallized in localized hedgehogs that slowed and sometimes stopped the increasing momentum of the German Blitzkrieg. One such place was Sochaczew, where elements of the 17th Infantry Division were determined the German onslaught would stop there.Attacker: German (SS) (Battalion 1, SS Leibstandarte Adolph Hitler Regiment with 36th Panzer Regiment, 4th Panzer Division)

2023-04-15 | (D) Pascal Boileau | vs | Serge Doba | German (SS) win | An interesting scenario with many toys. Unfortunately for the polish, the withdrawal fighting didn't go well. Except for one AFV destroyed by the gun, all of the other attempts failed and none of the Molotov attempts worked. Furthermore, the polish infantry was almost wiped out before the turn 7. Congrats to Serge !
2020-02-07 | (D) Jeff B | vs | Robert Loper | Polish win | 12 hrs | Initial German smoke barrage helped protect their troops, while the HIP front screen of Polish infantry sprung highly ineffective traps - managing only to pin one German squad. Round two of the HIP traps the next turn was much deadlier, costing the Germans two full squads. Turn 3 would swing back the Germans' way, eliminating a fleeing Polish HS and his MMG, knocking out the Polish rooftop mortar nest, and managing to grab their first victory building. Despite holding the Germans off, Turn 4 was a bit of a heartbreak for the Poles as they lost their field phone to a MALF. Turn 5 was only mildly more effective for the Germans, gaining two more buildings, but losing a tank to a CK due to an ATR shock. Turn 6 would finally see the Germans crack the fortified rowhouse in the north, but the delays during these middle turns would probably be the Germans' undoing, with much of the credit going to the stout Polish 10-2 and company dropping anchor in the middle of the board. Their days would be numbered the next turn though when OBA brought the house crashing down around them. The Germans would also grab the next two buildings, but there was extremely little hope of cracking the factory or the large building in the north. Three of their vehicles would be able to get off but, between the roadblock leading out of town and the deadly gauntlet their infantry would have to run, it would be nearly impossible for anything else to make it. And it was, as they ended with 75 VP. Fun game.
