Overview:
In the spring of 1944, Streifkorps Sudfrankreich, a group of rigorously trained, airborne/airlanding soldiers was tasked with anti-partisan deployment in the highly active FFI region of southern France. In June of 1944 a self-proclaimed FFI Republic was established on the heights of Vercors Plateau. At 9:30 on the morning of July 21, aircraft approached the town of Vassieux from the south. Instead of expected arms and supplies from the Allies, they were German fighters and bombers leading a stream of troop-packed gliders. . .Attacker: German (Kompanien 1 and 2, Streifkorps Sudfrankreich)
Defender: Partisan (FFI) (Vercors FFI Force)

2020-12-28 | (D) O Ramaille | vs | Macari Samuel | Partisan (FFI) win | The gliders silently landed. Several French partisans near the airfield opened fire not even scratching the paint of the gliders. The Germans (actually Ukrainians and white Russians) rushed out and fired at the nearby partisans routing some of them. They forced their way into the town of Vassieux but lost a leader to a sniper shot and a squad in ambushed CC. They quickly gained control of 2 buildings and were in position to blast all partisan left wing maintained by a single 527 squad. This would have opened the way to several buildings and most certainly to German victory. The best German leader (9-2) and a squad moved adjacent to the partisan unit already under final fire. The partisan fired in FPF pinning the leader and with casualty MC for the squad. Another German squad moved in to protect the leader but all routed under prep fire. Several partisans came in and encircled the routed unit eliminated for FTR. With 11 CVP for the Partisans and not enough damage done to the Partisans by the end of turn 3, the Germans resigned. Partisan victory. | ||
