Overview:
The German assault on the mountainous island of Crete called for airborne landings in four separate areas. One objective of the first wave was the quick capture of Canea, the capital city. To clear the way for the landing of the main regiment, a company of glider-borne troops were given the task of landing west of the city on the Akrotiri Peninsula and neutralizing the British anti-aircraft positions located there.Attacker: German (Abteilung Altmann, Bataillon I, Luftlande-Sturm-Regiment)
