Overview:
Created for operational use prior to the invasion of Poland, the SS Cavalry Brigade's primary duties consisted of searching for straggling Polish soldiers, stockpiled munitions, and "criminals" a broad category defined by the German occupier. Deployed as squadrons in various districts in Poland, and with various police battalions attached as needed, the cavalry performed this mission well. By spring of 1940, however, the squadrons found themselves fighting larger partisan bands and embroiled in action versus bands of partisans for weeks at a time. By the end of March, the Germans had heard rumors about an ex-Polish Army captain forming a large band in the Kamienna area.Attacker: Polish (Polish Irregular Troops)

2019-08-03 | (A) Kermit Mullins | vs | Dan Best | German win | I knew from the ROAR stats that my Poles were probably going to lose. Dan set up to defend against a quick exit by the Poles. So I put a small force in the village to tie up his Polizei and fortified the hill to try and hold out. Dan's Polizei took out my boys in the village and then together with the SS swept towards the hill. By Turn 11, Dan had 1 victory location and I had a 1-2-7 and 3-3-7 left to hold him back. I did my absolute best...but the Germans came up the hill on Turn 12 and took the victory. My own opinion...12 Turns is way too many. The SS have 9 turns to take the hill. time enough to take a picnic while they get their arty into position. Fun scenario...but needs to be 10 Turns. |
