Overview:

Defense of Stalingrad’s central district and the all important main ferry landing lay largely in the hands of hastily mobilized militia composed of factory workers and the NKVD garrison. These troops would have to hold the Wehrmacht at bay until the 13th Guards Division could cross the Volga into the city. But as the German 76th Infantry Division entered the ruins of downtown Stalingrad on a two-mile front, they met the enemy in a new environment more suitable to his talents. Nevertheless, as Captain Gerhard Muench personally led his 3rd Battalion in the assault, he had every expectation of reaching the Volga that day. . .

2026-11-02(A) Robert Wiebe vs Dave Jobe Russian (NKVD)/Russian win5 hrsGame was going ok for the Germans until Turn 7 reinforcements began to roll in for the Russians, just as I was about to push into the factory. At this point I had already suffered 40% casualties and would not have enough resources to secure the building with the newly arriving 628s interfering so we called it. Dave played a good collapsing defensive game and drew me into several close combats which turned against me. His MG kill beat were less effective.

Germans attacked along two fronts to sweep buildings N5 and P9 before moving towards the factory building. But as mentioned there were too many newly arriving fresh 628 to handle.

2023-05-27(A) A Fifteen vs Roy Connelly Russian (NKVD)/Russian win
2022-05-25(A) Jason Nichols vs Rob MacGinley German winAn old fashioned 10 turn meat grinder scenario set in the hell of Stalingrad. My Germans made steady, but not remarkable progress against the Russian defenders. I used Meunch with the HMG on level 2 to keep the Russians' heads down but he was unable to make much of an impact. Most of my force was concentrated in the south and I managed to get within striking distance of the factory by turn 9. Managed to lock the last Russian defenders in melee on German turn 10. No reinforcements meant Rob had to win both CC in his turn to win. Germans won both and sealed the victory. A very enjoyable game to play as the German. Lots of choices to make. Would like to play as the Russian as well.
2022-05-25(D) Rob MacGinley vs Jason Nichols German windown to the small wire as Jason described - never give up is my motto!!!
