Overview:
As Operation VERITABLE developed, the lead brigade of the Wessex Division punched a narrow hole in the German defenses and now stood behind the enemy's line in the outskirts of Kleve. However, Saalhof, Materbom, the Klever Reichswald, and the Sternberg remained in enemy hands and were being reinforced. Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 16, of Fallschirmjäger-Division 6, newly transferred from the Netherlands, ascended the high ground beyond Kleve with orders to dislodge the enemy and plug a gap in the line held by Volksgrenadier-Division 84. Upon arrival, the Fallschirmjäger were hastily thrown into the fight, launching a counterattack up the ridge. Supporting them were the divisional assault guns of another new arrival-Jagdpanzer Vs from schwere Panzerjager-Abteilung 655, dispatched by XXXXVII Panzerkorps.Attacker: German (Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 16, Fallschirmjäger-Division 6 with schwere Panzerjäger-Abteilung 655)
