Overview:
For weeks, Colonnello Natale, commander of Italian forces in Burye, had heard rumors of an enemy buildup in the highlands surrounding his positions. Unbeknownst to him, the commander of the Gideon Force, Colonel Orde Wingate, was using loud speakers and propaganda to convince the Italians they were surrounded by a much larger force. The Italian retreat from Matakkal in February further increased the tension and doubt in Italian minds. Believing an attack was imminent, Colonnello Natale gave the order to evacuate Burye and move to Debre Markos.Attacker: Italian (VI Brigata Coloniale, Regio Corpo Truppe Coloniali 29° Battaglione Bersaglieri Coloniale and Eritean "Banda" Ascari)
