Overview:
Playtest-Version .07 "Sickleforce" landed at Åndalsnes with the purpose of moving inland and cutting off the growing German force at Trondheim. Poor organization, German airpower and only basic port facilities at Åndalsnes quickly made it apparent that this force was not adequate to the task. It pressed on inland where first contact between the British and Germans at Vist proved that this would be a fighting withdrawal down the River Romsdal and back on to their supply base at Åndalsnes. Tretten set the pattern for operations in the Gudbrandsdal Valley. The British/Norwegian forces holding out until night fall and then being withdrawn to the next roadblock. With no anti-aircraft, anti-tank or air cover, little else could be achieved. The Foresters arrived after an all-night forced march and were put straight into the line to repulse the Germans advancing up the road.Attacker: German (196th Infantry Division)
Defender: British/Norwegian (Sherwood Foresters and Norwegian Dragoons under command of 148 Brigade)

2025-03-29 | (D) Jobbo Fett | vs | RootinPutin | British/Norwegian win | A scenario that dares the Germans to take risks and can end up punishing them severely, while also making movement towards the objective enough of an issue as to seem too difficult for the Attacker in this outing. While luck on my side allowed me to claim a tank instantly with the British ATR, the constant movement through woods with snow and alpine hills makes it relatively easy for the defenders to scamper away unimpeded, only to turn around immediately and turn open ground hexes into deadly zones of flying lead. And the defenders can boresight. Could use some refining. |
