In the crazy mud between February and March 1942, Germany’s Ninth and Fourth Armies existed at the end of a narrow supply line that snaked through marshy terrain from the city of Vyazma to Smolensk. The shattered remnants of the 6th Panzer Division, almost destroyed in the retreat during the winter, had the job of defending the sector from Sychevka and Vyazma. Men were hastily formed into alert units to limit the frequent Russian penetrations to the vital rollbahn. On the 27th February, some of these units were asked to drive the Russians further away. The assault beginning with a farmhouse on the edge of the village.
Attacker: German (Elements of 196th Infantry Division)
Defender: Russian (Elements of 2nd Ukrainian Front)
Broke my beginner’s luck winning streak with this one. Finn played well, while I made some tactical errors that potentially cost me the game

German win
My first game of ASL, graciously hosted by my new friend Indy. Him and my opponent Rob patiently led me through it all. This felt like the perfect learning scenario, well balanced, and just enough complexity for learning the rules, without becoming overwhelmed. I had a blast. I'm thoroughly hooked now, take all my money. Look forward to more games soon!

Russian win
Played this again, this time practising with Concealment. Did see a few rules/results I hadn't before - a HOB turning into a Berzerk unit (though too late for it to matter either way), Concealment bonuses vs fire, etc. German approach was too slow because of my attempts to use Concealment intelligently (on both sides), with Russians surviving in the top floor of the building.

First time playing ASL (have played SK). Went down to the penultimate diceroll. Simple situation, simple terrain, and plenty of organic opportunities for me to learn rules past SK-level (I had HOB, Sniper activations, and more).
