Overview:

The 1st Battalion, The Gordon Highlanders, tasked to clear the village of Colombelles and then advance into the Steelworks from the northeast, became tied up in heavy fighting with German outposts along the perimeter of the Steelworks. The battalion took heavy casualties and was forced to withdraw. This maneuver left the 5th Black Watch on the left isolated and because the ground with too hard to dig foxholes, the Highlanders were vulnerable to German counterattack. In an effort to support the 5th Black Watch, a squadron of Sherman tanks from the 148th Regiment, Royal Amoured Corps was brought up. At 0600 hours, Panzers were seen and the at 0700 hours. Tigers supported an attack by Jagerregiment 32 on the 5th Black Watch position.

2021-12-28(D) Maurizio Mai vs Mario Aceto German winVery nice scenario. Few counters, but several tools (piper, AFVs, Piat, OBA). Good concept of defense/attack & counterattack. The OBA was mostly ineffective because of the British force being spread. The German put a leader with squad and LMG on the roof, limiting movements and "?" gains to the British. The German pushed in the center and on the left of the British front. Reached the British line quite quickly. On the left the piper with the leader 9-1 were unable to rally the squad with the LMG and the whole left wing collapsed (first time ever using a piper.... quite frustrating :). A wrong move with the FireFly and a subsequent clear LOS from a Tiger in bypass and HD sealed the game for the German. I would definitely re-play this scenario.
