Overview:
Operation Wildente had pushed the Allied troops all the way up to Mo I Rana. Brigadier Fraser was ordered to hold that area for as long as possible. The forces at his disposal were the Scots Guards, five Independent Companies, a few platoons of Norwegians, as well as a platoon of Swedish Volunteers, who had experience from the Winter War in Finland. The Independent Companies were an experimental force specializing in mobility and guerilla operations. These were the units that would later evolve into the Commandos. Despite warnings, Fraser chose not to prepare any defenses on his eastern flank, considering the mountain Kobbernageln to be too hard to cross for the Germans. His opponent, General Lieutenant Feuerstein was in charge of the continued German advance after Wildente. He ordered a flanking maneuver by his Gebirgsjägers, while a minor detachment was to make a frontal attack, in order to keep the defenders locked in combat for as long as possible.Attacker: German (II. Bataillon, Gebirgsjäger-Regiment 2, 2. Gebirgsjäger-Division)
Defender: British/Swedish (Scots Guards & 203rd Field Artillery and 1st Independent Company and Group Björkman)

2023-12-11 | (A) Shane Pask | vs | German win | The Poms made a mess of the German force south of the stream but the good news for the allies ended there. The Swedes put up little resistance with the 8-0 and 1 1/2 squads surrendering to give the Germans their first factory (8C1) on turn 5 and little to stop the second falling soon after. The commandos and artillery were also underwhelming in their performance with two point blank hits from a 25 pounder failing to deter a squad which quickly overwhelmed it. The last Swede went berserk and was dispatched before he could reinforce the second factory which fell to the Germans on turn 6. The commandos were just in range of the second building but did not make it across the open ground to even challenge the Germans for control.
2021-10-28 | (D) Andy Bagley | vs | Alex Koestler | British/Swedish win | This is a really good scenario - one of the best and most exciting I've played (who says you need AFVs to make a scenario fun?!). In the south, the Germans attempted to surround the Scots Guards, and were partially successful but got considerably delayed as the Scots evacuated to the north. On the northern side, the German Turn 2 reinforcements were held up by the Swedes just long enough to make things interesting, but on both fronts the Germans are too strong to be held back for long. The luck swung back and forth. At one point my opponent apologised after BOTH of my Guns malf'd then disabled, he created his second hero, and wiped out a Swedish squad and leader on a 1:2 CC roll. But I got my revenge when his 9-2 leader and three squads ran through a 2-resid to take the last building, and my DR of 3 with a -2 delivered a 1KIA, stopping the lot! Even so, another CC win at 1:2 might have given him the game, but it wasn't to be this time. This scenario needs a skillful and well-timed British/Swedish withdrawal to the factories, whilst the Germans need to find ways to get kill stacks in dominating positions without getting blasted by the British Guns. A real challenge for both sides and a great fun scenario.
2021-06-02 | (A) Indy Lagu | vs | Rob Oler | British/Swedish win | Rob and I continued our Swedish odyssey with this excellent scenario. My plan was to move my eight squads straight up the hill and trap the Brits who set up near the stream. Alas, a well-placed MMG stymied my plan. Said MMG held out (and held me up) for two (or three turns)! As usual, Rob played an excellent game and I hampered myself by making some silly but crucial mistakes. In the end, I ran out of time (see British MMG). I would certainly play this again, and thoroughly recommend it. So far, I think this has been the best of the bunch.
2021-06-01 | (A) nathan wegener | vs | James Treu | British/Swedish win | Couldn’t penetrate the upfront defense. Lost my 9-2 to a sniper in the first turn and then no ability to rally back from failed MC’s.
