Overview:
The area known as "Little Tokyo" in Shanghai was a Japanese enclave that was quickly surrounded by the Chinese Army in the first week of the fighting. The area included the Japanese Naval Club and the dock district along the Hunagpu River. The Chinese knew that they had an opportunity to wipe out the enclave and threw troops at the fortified area indiscriminately, resulting in extensive casualties. With China's window of opportunity slipping away, they asked their German advisors for help. The advisor to the 87th Division devised a new plan, Operation IRON FIST, rooted in traditional late World War I assault tactics. Specially-trained troops were to follow up quickly behind artillery barrages and penetrate defensive gaps rapidly.Attacker: Chinese (87th Division and 98th Infantry Division)

| 2023-04-12 | (D) Jobbo Fett | vs | JobboFett | Japanese win | After a promising start as the Chinese drove up the left flank, both sides traded losses when a stack of elites and a leader went berserk. The ensuing "free" shots at negative DRMs caused losses, and the following melees wiped the rest. The Chinese reinforcements helped push back the Japanese defensive line, and one of the tanks broke its MA on an unlucky shot that nearly pinned a squad trying to cross some roads. That was about the end of any luck for the Chinese, as Fire Attacks suddenly turned for the worse, even with 10+ FP and a -2 leader (and the balance!) never making a serious dent against the Japanese troops. Broken units and weapons had little to no trouble coming back to shore up defenses or "re-activate" lanes of fire. The tanks were surprisingly resilient in Close Combat, which admittedly was a foolish decision anyways - but one hopes that the 25+ TH and CC attempts would've killed either vehicle... nope! The Chinese force slowly dwindled in power and numbers as more squads broke or were reduced (not to mention outright KIA!) The Balance had no effect on the game whatsoever - I would consider exchanging the Japanese 9-1 for a 9-0 or even removing them. The DCs feel useless, but perhaps I am biased after this playing. | ||
