Overview:

Campaign Game with 6 CG dates. . . .The reaction of the Axis forces to the American landings on Gela-Scoglitti resulted in the counterattacks of the Divisione "Livrono" supported by the Gruppo Mobile E, and of the Luftwaffe Panzer Division Hermann Göring. The latter would have aimed from east and from north, the beachheads with three columns. On 10th July, the Hermann Göring attacked with only one of the two battalions and four Tigers and met the resistance of infantrymen of the 1st and 3rd Battalions of the 180th RCT, still very disorganized. On the 11th the entire Kampfgruppe was engaged and the advance was more effective but at a certain point, Col. Gavin and the equivalent of two companies of paratroopers of the 3/505th flowed into the area together with M1 AT Guns, Sherman tanks and more field and naval artillery batteries. The Hermann Göring attack in the area, then called Biazza Ridge, was finally stopped.
