Overview:
Having secured the rail yard and nearby park the previous day, the 1st Battalion, 1st Marines got off to a slow start on this day as it tried to work its way through the neighborhood located immediately north of the railroad station. Here C Company encountered a "formidable nest of KPA automatic weapons and AT guns" which held the company at bay until tanks and flamethrowers blasted away the last defenders, but not before one tank was disabled by a mine and another was likewise rendered immobile by an antitank gun round. Once clear of this first obstacle, the battalion pivoted eastward in accordance with the overall scheme of maneuver and began to sweep the city of enemy resistance.Attacker: American (USMC) (A and C Companies, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines and B Company, and H&S Company, 1st Marine Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division)
Defender: North Korean (Seoul City Regiment, 78th Independent Infantry Regiment and 25th Infantry Brigade, with 111th Security Regiment, 513th Artillery Regiment, 10th Railroad Regiment, and 17th Rifle Division)
