Overview:
At 0900, Captain Stanford's E Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, was following in trace of Captain Groff's F Company. Both companies were loaded for bear and had armor support to boot. Fox had orders to clear a road junction on Ma Po Boulevard, after which it would proceed up the left-hand fork. Meanwhile, Easy Company would go up the right-hand fork. Together they would make a two-pronged sweep of the area to the point where each of their respective roads crossed the railroad tracks, here the two companies would then reconnect with one another for an assault on Deoksu Palace, the day's objective for the battalion. Orders from LtCol Sutter, in command of the 2nd Battalion, were to 'move out fast and keep going.' He stressed this because there would be elements of the 2nd Battalion KMC moving up in trace of the two companies to mop up behind them, since they could "tell the Cowboys from the Indians," as COL Puller commanding the 1st Marines remarked of them.Attacker: American (USMC) (E and F Companies, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, and B Company, and H&S Company, 1st Marine Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division)

2020-07-24 | (A) Rich Weiley | vs | Dave Longworth | American (USMC) win | USMC has a lot of firepower and the North Koreans ran out of clever traps to spring. Opponent conceded in his final turn when I broke the last units covering the north board edge and eliminated them for failure to rout leaving me with about 15 CVP worth of points that could exit unopposed. For the North Koreans the path to victory by the CVP cap appears to be unobtainable - I'd lost about 8 CVP by the end of the game. AFV elimination would appear to be the better option. I lost the Pershing in CC after using it to breach a fortified building hex. I'd already Xed out the flamethrower on its first (or second shot) and used the dozer tank to clear the GG21/22 roadblock. Once that was done I withdrew my surviving AFVs to a safe distance and let the infantry finish the job. |
