Overview:
General de Gaulle launched an attack against the German bridgehead with his 4th Division Cuirassee, pushing the German 57th Division back nearly four kilometers and taking 300 prisoners. The objective for the second day of the attack was Villers-Mareuil. Lieutenant Rene Bardel's R-35 tanks moved toward the village with soldiers of the 22nd Regiment d'Infaterie Coloniale following close behind. Passing the smoking wrecks of R-35s knocked out the day before, Bardel's tank was suddenly hit by a German 37mm anti-tank round. . . .a VASL setup file is below under USER FILES.Attacker: French (Elements of 1st Compagnie, 44th Bataillon de Chars de Combat, 22nd Regiment d'Infanterie Coloniale, 4th Division Cuirassee)

2021-01-15 | (D) Chris Anthony | vs | Charlie Willmer | French win | Very tense game. French hustled across the board, or at least moved as fast as the R35s could move. German AT fire was completely ineffective at stopping the armored assault up the middle. The Germans were slowly but surely reduced via AFV bypass and infantry CC/Melee. At the end, the Germans were unable to hold three buildings allowing the French to claim victory in the final advance phase. A very well played game by the French (Charlie) and a well deserved win. | ||
2019-09-17 | (D) Jeff B | vs | Magnus Rimvall | German win | 4.75 hrs | Germans played a "reverse slope" defense, not giving the French many shots but waiting to lay down some fire of their own upon French movement. Both AT guns setup with opportunities to immediately shoot any advancing tanks, and one was knocked out and another immobilized. Unfortunately the manning crew went down to a lucky MC roll with boxcars. Turn 2 proved a bit deadly for both sides, with the French losing 2.5 squads, a LMG, and their 8-1 to a sniper. The Germans for their part lost 1.5 squads and a permanently broken MMG. Turn 3 saw the cornered Germans in the middle of the board maintain their hold. A concealed squad blew an ambush attempt on a stopped R35, but an intrepid HS and 8-1 took out a French squad in CC. Turn 4 was make-or-break time for the French, and it didn't start out well when their UK tank was a confirmed kill. An attempted overrun of the 9-1 toting a DC who was blocking the way to one of the VC hexes was met with doom when the French HS rolled boxcars and the leader took him out in CC (despite being pinned). His buddies next door were broken to a man by a German squad across the way. Meanwhile in the south, 1.5 squads of pinned French were busted by the remaining MMG and the French decided to call it a day without being able to obtain a single one of the VC hexes. Pretty fun scenario, but the attacker really needs to push. |
