Overview:
Involved in the Operation Adler (December 1944-January 1945), the Lightning Battalion “Fulmine” (though with reduced ranks) was placed to guard the Karst village of Tarnova della Selva, where it was surrounded by overwhelming partisan forces and was involved in a series of clashes that went down in history as the Battle of Tarnova . After two days of strenuous defense, the remains of the battalion were rescued by Italo-German columns from Gorizia and Sambasso, which - breaking the encirclement - managed to save the survivors of the ward.Attacker: Partisan (Slovenian) (19th Slovenian Brigade "Srechko Kosovel")
