Overview:
It was the second day of Operation Plunder. British and American divisions had crossed the river Rhine in force while airborne troops had landed to establish a bridgehead for them. Then it was time to extend that bridgehead before the Germans could organize a defensive line. In the morning of 25 March, British armored infantry supported by tanks and tank destroyers moved out to open a corridor for following units. The beginning of the attack started well, but then the British ran into an outpost of Fallschirm-Artillerie–Regiment 7.Attacker: British (No more details)
Defender: German (Elements of Fallschirm-Artillerie–Regiment 7)

2020-08-23 | (A) Gordon Jupp | vs | Derek Cox | German win | Second playing, took the Allies this time - tried the slower approach, which was OK apart from Derek doing his usual in CC to me - I lost a squad to his gun crew... :( kept all the tanks back until T5 then swarmed the right flank - worked to a degree but I was relying on the 9-2 and a couple of squads to make it across on T6 , but Derek had spotted a los threading through two burning wrecks and they took a 6 -3 shot which broke them... close but no cigar...
2020-06-16 | (D) Gordon Jupp | vs | Andy Bagley | German win | Another interesting scenario from the pack - Andy went hard up the British right but after some initial success (The ATG and Schrek both malfd Axis T1 - doh) the tide turned and by T3 all the Allied armour was destroyed for the loss of one Stug. A CH from the StuH42 was enough for the Allies to throw in the towel....I think the Brits could be a bit more conservative in their attack and use smoke to effect?
2020-06-16 | (A) Andy Bagley | vs | Gordon Jupp | German win | I misplayed this as the Brits, because I thought I needed to prevent the German reinforcements moving straight up the road into the action. As Gordon says, a more conservative approach using smoke would have saved my tanks and should capture the woods line; however that still leaves open ground to cover to cross the railroad, and the Germans will be well placed for defence. Another issue is that the Shermans should easily win a Gun Duel if they can outflank the German StuGs, but with the playing area only ten hexes wide with lots of woods there's really no chance to do this. Interesting scenario, but a tough one for the Brits I reckon.
2019-06-28 | (A) Paolo Cariolato | vs | Ulric Swchela | British win | Very interesting scenario, Ulric's defence was focused on damaging the attacker, I think that the German player must deny to the British any LOS to the counterattacking forces and setting a defence up in order to contest the central village and woods which are going to be where the british attack will focus on. Good Game and excellent opponent. |
