Overview:
The Kummersdorf Proving Grounds facility, the German Army’s main weapons testing and development center, was located at Kummersdorf Gut, several kilometers south of the actual village of Kummersdorf. With the Russian 3rd Guards Tank Army approaching rapidly from the south, OKH had assembled all of the remaining mobile vehicles at Kummersdorf Proving Grounds into a makeshift panzer company. As a part of Kampfgruppe Möws, Panzer-Kompanie Kummersdorf was dispatched to block the Russian 6th Guards Tank Corps at Baruth, not far to the south. A heavy battle ensued just as the panzer company was detraining there. To avoid the fierce fighting at Baruth, the 7th Guards Tank Corps bypassed the town wide to the west to get past some heavily wooded marshy areas. Directly in its path lay the proving grounds, and the staff hurriedly mustered all able-bodied personnel into an ersatz Volkssturm company. In addition to an 88L FlaK gun, the defense was bolstered by an immobile prototype Porsche Tiger tank towed into a firing position. Though immobile, the experimental Porsche Tiger was armed with a fearsome 8.8cm L/71 gun, an unpleasant fact the Russian tankers would soon discover. The Volkssturm company was dug in along the edge of the proving ground ranges, and also in position to guard the worker’s barracks just north east of the proving ground facility. The Russian 7th Guards Tank Corps’ approach was down heavily forested roads.Attacker: Russian (Elements of 7th Guards Tank Corps)
Defender: German (Elements of Volkssturm Ersatz-Kompanie, Kummersdorf Panzerlehr-und-Versuchsgrupp)

2024-11-26 | (D) Jon Jaramillo | vs | Justin J | Russian win | 4 hrs | I took the Germans and honestly I don't really know how you win unless you get incredibly lucky with rate. I figured you might have to take out 6 Russian AFVs on turn 1 to have a fighting chance. Unfortunately, I got one with the 75L and one with a PSK and I couldn't roll a TH to save my life. My one kill stack got hit with an after though 6 +4 shot from an AFV MG attack, he rolled snakes and everybody failed their MC and that was the beginning of the end. In the end, he simply overwhelmed me with firepower.
2024-09-27 | (D) O Ramaille | vs | La Créature | Russian win | The defenders tried to deceive the Soviet enemy, numerous and attacking in force, by making thembelieve in a strong German resistance in the factories. A festival of desperate panzerfaust shots eliminated a few tanks but not enough., The Tiger II and the 88 AA gun did some part as well. Six Russian tanks ended burning but still 4 others moving. A glimmer of hope was born when a charge of German conscripts unexpectedly managed to re-enter the factories, adding doubt in the minds of the Russian attackers. Last turn, the Soviets commited all their forces and manage to eliminate the 3 remaining resistance nodes. A Soviet victory in a scenario which offers a lot of choice on both sides and thus ensures good replayability.
2022-12-03 | (A) Pascal Boileau | vs | Karim Drici | Russian win | A very fun scenario. It was disputed until the very end. I've played the Russian side and lost 7 AFV during the game. Clearing the factories took me some time but I still managed to break the two last German units standing in the east buildings with the help of the DCs (and a zest of luck !)
2022-07-12 | (A) Jeff B | vs | Steve Etzelmueller | Russian win | A bit of a strange scenario in the sense that both sides must split their forces between boards. The German have a very poor force, but the Russians have a lack of time to accomplish a potentially difficult objective. My opponent chose to defend the two factories fairly strongly, and thought he may have overallocated to them, but it did take me 3 full turns to clear them. At the same time, however, I also cleared out all the other German resistance on the western part of Board 9b. My eastern force had started making its move against the four wooden buildings in their area, while a nice-sized task force was making its way toward the three southeastern buildings. AA15 would most likely be my biggest thorn, but I had a tank in position to start to bombard it. I had yet to see the gun, nor had I given the King Tiger any shots yet. That would change on Turn 4 when the gun popped up to fry the SU-100. Turn 5 saw a T34 go down while trying to freeze the Tiger, but another soon took its place. This was fried by the gun the following turn, but with the Tiger immobilized and shrouded in smoke it was not very dangerous. A leader with a PF took out another T34, but with so many turns of being able to just sit and hammer the few remaining German holdouts it looked like an inevitable Russian victory. Despite some extremely poor Russian shooting over the last two turns, they did manage to break the last German during their last MPh, and it was game over. A wild game, that overall was fairly enjoyable.
2021-12-28 | (D) David Ramsey | vs | Martin Barker | German win | I messed up the boards so I'm not sure we can really count this one. A German win but it was still fun. |
