Overview:

The NORDWIND offensive had breached the lines of the U.S. 7th Army at the Alsatian towns of Hatten and Rittershoffen. The 14th Armored Division was ordered to restore the main line of resistance; the first time in its operational history, it would be employed as a unit. Widely dispersed by the initial German onslaught, the division would have to reassemble in poor weather and the darkness of night. Approaching Hatten across the flat, open ground, the reinforcing Americans struggled against devastating automatic weapons, artillery, and anti-tank fire, but eventually gained a foothold at the edge of town.

2021-07-22(A) Kermit Mullins vs Scott Waites American winMy Americans fared poorly on Turn 1 as the German HMG drilled my 9-1 and 2 squads. Thought they were safe...but was really wrong. The Starter Kit boards have way more visible shots than first meets the eye. I managed go recover and when the game on the final movement phase with 5-1/2 squads exited. Fun game.

2019-02-24(A) O Ramaille vs American winThe German AT gun revealed itself to shoot at advancing US tanks but malfunctioned on the first shot. It would not repair until the end of the battle. The US tanks and bazookas fired white phosphorus to cover their run to the South of Hatten. Despite the open field, the cover provided by several burning WP was sufficient to help most of the troops out. Without their gun, the German fire was weak and did not change the output. A decisive US win.
