Overview:
In order to slow down Rommel's panzers, the French command sent its fast mixed cavalry (mechanized and horse) into Belgium. The cavalry's mission was to blow up all the bridges on the Ourthe River. This they successfully did just prior to the panzers arrival. The French then pulled back towards Marche, leaving no units to watch over the river for potential crossings. German pioneers quickly threw pontoon bridges over the river. What the French expected to take days to complete was accomplished unmolested in a handful of hours. German armored cars, tanks, and motorcyclists rushed forward across the pontoon bridges and surprised the French cavalry and infantry.Attacker: German (Elements 7th Panzer Division)

2024-03-08 | (A) Paul Works | vs | Tom Meier | French win | This is a very fun scenario. My Germans zipped up pretty quickly. Then: a) in a single (memorable...) Player Turn, the French sniper killed a German leader, broke the accompanying squad and then proceeded to hit a squad and then a half-squad both on motorcycles - breaking both as they bailed out/crashed the cycles (ouch!); and b) his 25LL ACs destroyed three of my AFVs (ouch again). That did not help the German advance. Additionally, a well set up defense by Tom really slowed the German advance. While I was able to kill both his H35s toward the end, I just did not have enough squads to fight my way into the last victory building in the time allowed. Favors the French a bit, but totally fun.
2022-01-14 | (A) Andy Bagley | vs | Mike Grogan | German win | Very exciting, with the Germans taking the final victory building on their last turn to win it. The Germans are mobile, but have a huge distance to cover so have to keep moving - one of my motorcyclists didn't dismount until turn 7! On the other hand, there's no CVP cap and the French tanks are not much of a threat - poorly armed, platoon movement and can't control buildings if the Germans occupy. Even so I thought around turn 5 that I would probably lose, because the last two (westernmost) victory buildings are on the southern side of the village and most of my forces were towards the north.. But I threw everything at the defenders on my last two turns, aided by a VBM freeze and successful CC; the French couldn't shoot everyone so I was able to get people where I needed to. Last defenders broke in my final PFPh, allowing me to move in. Good game.
