German (SS)American
Overview:
During the German Ardennes offensive, Colonel Peiper’s kampfgruppe from the 1st SS Panzer Division had quick victories which had taken them close to the Meuse River bridges but they had completely run out of fuel. The remaining assault elements of the SS Panzer Division launched an attack to reach Peiper’s stalled kampfgruppe. The main German thrust came at a point south of Trois Ponts on the Salm River. There, a company of the 82nd Airborne Division had established a small bridgehead on the cliffs across the river.Attacker: German (SS) (SS-Panzergrenadier Regiment 2, SS-Panzer-Division 1 "Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler")
Defender: American (Company E, 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division)

2024-12-13 | (D) Dave B | vs | Joseph L DiCamillo | American win | 3.83 hrs | The German came on through the woods in massive, kill stacks, and was eager to engage in firefights with the concealed defending pirate troopers. The Stuh 42 AFVs were moved down the southern edge of the board, where they set up to engage the units on Hill 621. Although the Americans broke early and often in every fire fight, they were still able to inflict enough damage on the German infantry, supplemented with 105 mm OBA FFE damage, to cause a the German player to declare Mission Impossible and resign on turn 5. The bazooka HIPster half squads positioned near the VC exit area were never revealed.
2023-11-04 | (A) Craig Renier | vs | Bob W | German (SS) win | The American OBA could never come to bear. First, no radio contact. Then, once gained, broke under fire from German AFV. Then, after rallying and gaining contact, drew a red card for access. One HIP'd American Baz fired at point blank range and missed. The other HIP'd Baz had to move for a shot and never got there before being broken. The Germans were able to bring firepower to bear forcing an open path to exit the board.
2021-11-22 | (A) Kermit Mullins | vs | Dan Best | American win | HIP Bazookas...100mm OBA...hill top MMG...yeah I lost...next question.
2021-11-22 | (D) Dan Best | vs | Kermit Mullins | American win
2021-10-26 | (D) Michael Rodgers | vs | Magnus Rimvall | German (SS) win | Flawed American setup because I didn't notice the retricted German entry. Red chit at a crucial moment allowed a lot of German infantry to exit on turn 8. |
