Overview:
After the initial landings at Vlissingen on November 1st, the last German stronghold outside the dock area and the city proper was the luxurious pre-war Grand Hotel Britannia. Half a mile west and above the floods caused by the RAF bombing of the lowlands dykes, it was a minor fortress and the nerve center of the German defenses in the Vlissingen area. The Royal Scots, who had landed in the small hours of D+1 had spent the next day flushing out German snipers and rescuing Dutch civilians, and they were now tasked with taking the hotel.Attacker: British (7/9th (Highlanders) Royal Scots, 155th Lowland Brigade)
