Overview:
The 29th Infantry Division was fighting on the Brittany peninsula with orders to crack the German fortress of Brest, home to U-boat pens that housed returning German submarines and – potentially – a massive supply point for the Allies if captured intact. Before they could get to Brest, they had to bludgeon their way through the significant outlying defenses manned mostly by Fallschirmjager-Division 2. September 8th found the 29th Division stymied along its front by the usual diligently-prepared German defenses. Frustrated but sensing that the Germans were close to cracking, General Gerhardt radioed the commander of the 115th Regiment, Lt. Col. Louis Smith saying “Give ‘em the works today. . . holler ‘Let’s Go!’ and storm that objective.” To which Smith could only respond: “Yes sir!”Attacker: American (Elements E & G Cos., II/115th Infantry Regt., 29th Infantry Division & 709th Tank Btn)
Defender: German (Elements 2nd Fallschirmjäger Division)

2024-09-15 | (D) Vic Lauterbach | vs | JM | American win | I drew the defending Germans in this one. I planned to stall Jim by holding the J9 and P9 buildings for couple turns then falling back to the VC building group. I expected Jim to take the smaller US force with M4s which he did and the 75 fire was telling. Jim's always aggressive with AFVs so I should have pulled back to the victory buildings faster. Two of my MMC got cut off north of hexrow 7, and I needed every man to stop Jim's well-planned attack. Jim: The Shermans make the difference. Get them up to hexrow I and their MAs and MGs will win it unless the defender is very lucky with PF shots. I broke the 248 w/PSK early and kept it broken until near the end when it finally killed a Sherman too late to matter. Good game overall. It favors the attacker.

2020-10-03 | (D) Richard Jenulis | vs | Jeff Newell | American win | The Americans chose option B. The game came down to the final turn. This was a very fun game. German highlights was HIP squads wrecking a stack of incoming American reinforcements day. American highlights was HoB on a 4-1 shot on the last turn to battle harder and create a hero that guaranteed the win.
2020-06-28 | (D) Scott Sherer | vs | Adam Lunney | American win | Came down to the final CCPh. US had a 2-1(-1) to eliminate a 238 and 8-0 leader from the third victory building and rolled a 7, just enough. US tank got to my rear and made life tough for the Germans.
2020-06-10 | (D) Vilis Pavulans | vs | Stefan Fiedler | American win | Started off by looking ok. Then broke my only gun on my first shot and rolled a 6 on the repair. Then breaking a nasty amount of americans, having them gather up in a woods hex, trying to give´em a good whooping, their leader rolls snakes, becomes berserk and rallies all his broken friends and rushes me. Looks like I can get the victory anyway when a lucky sniper shot takes out the other leader and breaks a squad he has with him but alas, my final remaining 9-1 leader with HS, not locked in melee get´s hit by a Sherman and the game ends. |
