Overview:
The Soviets resumed their offensive now dubbed “The Mud Offensive” despite the persisting freeze-thaw weather conditions. The roads consisted of liquid mud deeper than the soldiers’ boots. While the T34 could slither its way across the waterlogged terrain, few German vehicles could, and hundreds of vehicles had to be blown up and abandoned while their crews squelched westward on foot. SS-Panzer Division 1 Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler formed hedgehogs in an attempt to stop or slow the advancing Soviet forces…Attacker: Russian (Elements of Soviet Fifth Guards Tank Corps)

The german Tank where in O6 and O5, one T34 was destroyed in hex J7 on the second shot in the German prep, after that the Pz IV was shocked by the two T34 left on that front. The Russian infantry was blaster to pieces every time it tried to cross the open filed to get into close combat so the game was very short. The T34 in L8 was killed by the PzIV in O5 and the one in K8 when it tried to bypass freeze and halfsquad. After a brief fight on turn 4 there where only a handful of squads remaining and no significant progress was made by the Russian so it conceded. I as the German had lost only 1 PzIV and was still holding all the houses. My rolls where very low during all the game with a couple of 3 that KIA 2 628 squad. | ||
