Overview:
Fearing a counterattack, Lehr commander Bayerlein pulled back his tanks and let Volksgrenadier-Division 26 secure Mageret during the night of 18-19 December. Combat Command R, 9th Armored Division the next morning launched an attack to reopen the road to Longvilly. After the initial assault with 18 armored infantrymen and three tanks was deemed insufficient to hold any gains, Lt. Ed Hyduke commandeered nearly 200 men retreating down the road from Longvilly and ordered a follow-up attack from the west side of Mageret. A confusing action followed throughout most of the day that involved vehicles of all types coming and going through Mageret. The chaos was epitomized by a panzer, thought to be knocked out, that miraculously started up in the middle of a counterattack and re-joined the battle.Attacker: American (Combat Command A, 10th Armored Division and Combat Command R, 9th Armored Division)
Defender: German (Volksgrenadier-Division 26)

2024-12-08 | (A) Vic Lauterbach | vs | JM | American win | I drew the GIs and was badly diced in Turn 1; my squads failed every MC and Jim's passed them all! A barrage of US fire produced one pinned 247 and a broken 228! In exchange, I lost 2 HS, had 4 broken MMC and disabled a 75 MA. As always, the GIs bounced back fast and took buildings R4 and U3. I finally took 64V1 in turn 5 after winning a 3-turn melee, giving me all 3 VC buildings plus R8, Y7 and Y10. Jim's force was squeezed onto hill T8 plus building U9. Despite Jim's furious counterattack, I held on for the win. It's gamey, but tank MA repair drs are huge! Jim: The German force is too small to defend the whole village, so I concentrated on the hill and VC buildings plus the U7 church. Once I lost six buildings, I went after the remaining three US tanks. I got two, and Vic got the win. Very good game! The "reviving" Panzer is a neat "wild card!"

2018-01-28 | (A) Jim Kloss | vs | Bob Eury | German win | Good luck if you're playing as the American. The pre-movement NTC for the 5-4-6's virtually ensures that you will be executing a poorly coordinated, piece meal attack.
2016-02-12 | (A) Gordon Jupp | vs | Derek Cox | American win | Played it better 2nd time around, slightly more cautious with the AFV's and moved to stretch the defence...Derek was unlucky with his ATG, breaking it on an intensive fire shot and X ing it on the first repair attempt. Made good use of smoke and it paid off. Good fun for both though!
2016-02-06 | (A) Gordon Jupp | vs | Jeremy Shields | German win | Fun game, I was way to aggressive with my AFV's and paid the price - malfing two MA didn't help either, but this was offset by getting two leaders from a CC roll and 1st MMC rally! |
