Overview:
At dawn on March 23, 1939 Hungary suddenly attacked Slovakia from Carpatho-Ukraine with instructions being to "proceed as far to the west as possible". Hungary attacked Slovakia without any declaration of war, catching the Slovak army unprepared, because many Slovak soldiers were in transit from the Czech region and had not reached their Slovak units yet. Despite the awful confusion caused by the hurried mobilization and desperate shortage of officers, the Slovak force in Michalovce had coalesced sufficiently to attempt a counterattack by the following day. This was largely due to Czech Major Kubíček, who had taken over command from Haššik and begun to get a better grip on the situation. Because they were based on a widely available civilian truck, spares were soon found to repair five of the sabotaged OA vz.30 armoured cars in Prešov, and they reached Michalovce at 5:30 am on March 24. Their Czech crews had been replaced by scratch teams of Slovak signallers from other technical armed forces. They were immediately sent on a reconnaissance mission to Budkovce, some 15 km south of Michalovce, but could not find any trace of the Hungarians. It was decided to counterattack eastwards where the most advanced Hungarian outpost was known to be some 10 km away at Závadka. The road-bound armoured cars engaged the Hungarian pocket from the front whilst Slovak infantry worked round their flanks. Soon they forced the heavily outnumbered Hungarians to fall back from Závadka towards their main line on the River Okna/Akna, just in front of Nižná Rybnica.Attacker: Slovakian (37th Infantry Regiment and 3rd Tank Regiment)
Defender: Hungarian (24th Independent Brigade)

2024-12-22 | (D) Jon Jaramillo | vs | Brett Snyder | Hungarian win | I won this one as the Hungarians. This scenario was pretty decent but I feel it was very hard on the Slovakians if you set up a very up front defense and then retreat into the buildings. Brett had some bad luck with me having to roll his MCs LOL. I also got pretty lucky with my OBA getting it down twice in pretty much where I was trying to put it in 6 turns. The bog DR reared it's head with both of his AFVs bogging while trying to advance into the city on the same turn, delaying their entry into the fight. Having said all that, this wasn't particularly close. When the game ended, the Slovaks had only taken 1 of the VC buildings and weren't in position to take any more before game end. Due to the brittle nature of 2 ELR on 6 and 7 morale troops, the Slovaks ended the game with broken 5 (6 by SSR) troops littered everywhere. Honestly, I'm not sure to approach this one, the obvious route is to carry riders in on AFVs down the road but the ability to boresight and set up so close to the entry area makes this a death trap and the bog situation makes other possibilities dicey at best. If you bog twice in 6 turns you might not make it to the city at all. Personally, I would have entered everybody in the SW corner of the entry area, risked the bog on the 1st turn and tried to meet up with the road that gets you close to the city. Still, not sure this would work but it keeps you safe from possible boresighted hexes.
2024-01-02 | (A) Jobbo Fett | vs | xs-bombing | Slovakian win | A win due to a forfeit, the Slovakians had made a solid push on the right flank and down the center. A few great shots coupled with boresight made advancing down the center a headache, but constant pressure and a lucky CC or two created possibilities to get into the village and start assaulting the victory hexes. Hungarians definitely have the advantage on this one!
2023-09-23 | (A) Daniel Soukup | vs | Patrick | Hungarian win | This is a tough one for the Slovakians. I poorly used my AFV and did not deal well with the up-front setup defense well which left me with too few resources to assault the town.
2022-09-24 | (A) Shane Pask | vs | Slovakian win | Hungarian guns wreaked havoc on the armour - the AA gun destroyed 3 in one ROF tear. One of my HS prisoners attacked its guard and won (created 8-1) then attacked the AA crew in CC and created another 8-0. In the end only the AT crew survived (but in melee) with 13/15 buildings in Slovak hands.
