Overview:
After 3 weeks of fighting, the legions of the Italian Army were in the midst of a humiliating defeat. The Greeks, for their part, had no intention of letting the Italians off the hook. As soon as possible, they launched a counterattack. In most areas the Greeks met with initial success due to the low quality of the Italian defenders. The 1st Frontier Division, however, clashed along the Vojussa River with one of the best units in the Italian Army. The river crossing was guarded by a detachment of the Julia Alpini supported by artillery and machineguns. The Italians were attempting a retrograde movement to cross the bridge with the Greeks hard on their heels.Attacker: Italian ((Elements of 3rd Alpini Division "Julia")

2024-03-30 | (A) Louis Langdeau | vs | CR Holmes | Italian win | ROUGH game for CR on this one. We called it on bottom of T2 when the Italians were already in position to pick up a the vast majority of the Greek force on T3. CR pushed in aggressively to the crestline, hoping to pressure me and cut off my retreating elites. Unfortunately, he also walked directly into some bore sighted hexes, and left a few too many units in stacks on the end of his T1. Because of that, I was able to break practically everything on his line apart from a couple squads on the south, and a flanking stack moving around the north of the hill. I was able to push forward with my "retreating" Italians, who suddenly became the prisoner collection squad. Scenario seems like it could still be good, but there are VERY few rout targets at the top of the hill. If something breaks, it's going to be running for a turn or two to get into terrain. My opponent also got diced pretty hard, so that didn't help at all. | ||
