Overview:
After taking the Loushan Pass on the 26th, the Red Army came down from the mountains on the 27th. The Nationalists had gathered eight regiments of poor quality Guizhou Warlord troops and two divisions of KMT regulars. The Red Army would smash the Nationalists and chase them all the way back to the Wu River. At the Wu River, the Nationalist General Wu Qiwei withdrew across the river on a pontoon bridge. When the Red Army approached, he had the ropes anchoring the bridge cut. Stranded on the Communist side of the river were 1,800 Nationalist troops.Attacker: Red Army (Elements of the Red Army)

ELR 1 on a majority conscript force makes every break turn into a disruption, forcing squads to automatically become prisoners. With values quickly mounting up, I attempted to make my way off the east edge only to be caught at the worst time with my opponent rolling well below average and blasting a big stack. Without the stacked movement, the conscripts just can't make it off safely, and simply fall phase by phase as they receive +1, +2, and +3 shots only to still roll for MC and break/disrupt on 6/7/8. The lack of errata or clarification for "SNOW" also makes this a pain to play. Does the Weather imply Ground Snow or just possible Snow, or falling snow? These all vastly change the speed at which units attempting to run away can do so... |
