German (SS)Yugoslavian (NOVJ)
Overview:
In an attempt to re-open lines to Panzer-Armee 2, Armeekorps XXXIV conducted a major attack along the Syrmien front south of the Danube. Opposing this assault were six divisions of Tito’s “partisan” army. Dug in like the Russians who had trained them and backed by Soviet air power, these formations were anxious to prove that they had grown from local tribal rabble into a legitimate military force.Attacker: German (SS) (SS-Freiwilligen-Gebirgs-Division 7 "Prinz Eugen")
Defender: Yugoslavian (NOVJ) (6th Tito Division)

2024-01-21 | (A) Vic Lauterbach | vs | JM | German (SS) win | I got the SS in this Balkan scrap which looked tough for them with ELR 2 and only a two MMC advantage. Based on Jim's setup, I attacked along the 58GG6-Y10 road. The blind hexes created by the big woods around 58T10-X10 hid me from the Yugos on the board 58 hill and his FO drew a red chit on GT1. My goal was to get behind the trench line and threaten building 56M6, forcing the defenders to shift positions. I counted on just two MMCs and my reinforcements to take out the guns. My plan actually worked better than expected but it still took until GT7 to close on building 56M5! Helped by a 458 that went berserk, I won a big CC in N5. Jim: I should have put a couple 447s on the hill to protect my 45LLs. Without support, the German reinforcements took them out quickly. Early StuG fire broke the 7-0 with Phone and the 82 MTR crew causing big trouble. My broken FO was killed in GT3 and Vic captured the Phone. With the OBA, this one favors the Yugos. Without the OBA, it's a tossup. My FB didn't show until GT6 and only broke a moving 8-1 and 248. I got my reinforcements into 56N5 and the Commissar led stack hung on until he died in turn 7 CC. It was a very close game and more fun than I expected.
2016-01-24 | (A) Jason Wert | vs | Randy Rossi | Yugoslavian (NOVJ) win | Great game. The scenario presents options for both players. I hit the village hard but then reinforced the hill attack and ultimately pulled a little too much away from the village as Randy's reinforcements bolstered the defense.
